Human Resources Assistant

We are looking for a well-rounded, experienced, self-starter to work in our construction office.

General Summary: The Human Resources Assistant is a detail-oriented position that gives you the opportunity to act as a liaison between employees and management. You will be exposed to and work with every department within our company.
Responsibilities include:
- Advertise for & Recruit New Employees
- Continuing HR Education to ensure HSBLLC is EEO Compliant
- Review & Assist with the Update of Handbooks and other Policies
- Assist to create and/or update Job Descriptions
- Manage Workers Compensation claims
- File Annual PCORI Return
- Assist in planning Company employee events
- Process New Hires & Terminated Employees
- Track Employees Safety Certifications to ensure they do not expire
- Assist with weekly Payroll
- Process Certified Payroll
- Recordkeeping for DOT and non-DOT Employees

Experience
- 3-5 years of Human Resource and Accounting experience, construction experience preferred
- Ability to work & communicate well with a team and to work independently
- Ability to use computer applications such as spreadsheets, word processing, calendar, e-mail and scheduling software
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to balance demand and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Accounting or HR is preferred, but not required
Laborers & Pipelayers
Job Type: Full Time
Qualifications
- Able to work on military installations. This means you must be able to work in the USA and you must be able to pass a criminal background check.
- Able to work at our job sites in Norfolk, Newport News, Williamsburg, Matthews, and Richmond; you will work where you are most needed.
- Must be able to get to your job site each day.
- Current drivers license and a driving record that allows you to drive company vehicles. This means that you cannot have a DUI/DWI in the past three years, or a reckless driving conviction in the past three years, or more than -5 points on your record.
Experience
- Experience in underground utilities work (water, sewer, and storm) is a plus.
Heavy Equipment Operator
Job Type: Full Time
Qualifications
- Able to work on military installations. This means you must be able to work in the USA and you must be able to pass a criminal background check.
- Must be able to work at our job sites in Norfolk, Newport News, Williamsburg, Matthews, and Richmond; you will work where you are most needed.
- Must be able to get to your job site each day.
- Current drivers license and a driving record that allows you to drive company vehicles. This means that you cannot have a DUI/DWI in the past three years, or a reckless driving conviction in the past three years, or more than -5 points on your record.
Experience
- Must have experience in underground utilities work: water, sewer, and storm.
- Minimum of 5-years experience on heavy road construction equipment such as dozers, excavators, and loaders. Rate and trade will depend on your experience.
